"MUSIC IS MY LIFE" is a wonderful topic to discuss. The real question behind the statement is directed to all of hip hop and adjacent genres! What do you really want your music to say or do for you and the people you wish to buy the music?
The get rich quick theme in hip hop, i been shot, i slang dope, i smack females, i kuffem, stuffem and buff em is the trend that has not disappeared. Where are the ones who would never allow being spoken to in this manner? I'll tell ya where there are! They in bed!
Todays music has taken on the new teflon vest of thuggism dope boy hood star rich anthems and is continually growing simply because of our education system. This writer used to believe it was all the fault of media, but then reality struck and displayed that a fool doesn't know to care to know! When we failed our education system we set fire in the forest. Our current generation of youth believes that saying nothing of sustenance in a song is saying everything.Thanks goes out to all those baby daddies who did not raise their children at all!
We need a group to remain steadfast and continue collectively to educate and re-educate us on what we are truly doing! The concern with "I won't make money doing that" is obsurd and ignorant! The need for real truth and wise vision is more than ever needed as we have neglected a group of people who want to hear it and need such inspiration. When a rap song is taking credit for an original 60's motown hit we are lost!
There are many avenues and many media formats but we keep forgetting the true purpose as to why we do what we do! Because it's in us to do so. We give more praise to killers whether by drugs, by guns, by hands, by mental and physical abuse, giving these entities of thought more adoration than that which we owe to God Almighty himself! We are simply appealing to be cool and accepted from each other more so than we seek the acceptance of God! We are lost.
There are so many avenues that can be created to enhance our social groups of minorities that greed and envy completely shun us out! Why do we get upset with the ones who are successful opposed to being inspired and doing our part to be just as successful! We all love a good story! The best stories are true and we forget how much we have seen and learned in the past 40 years that we get caught up with watching a disfunctional family spend money and complain! WE are lost!
What do we want in our music. WE want drama, we want pain, and most of all we want deception. The problem for me is why don't we want truth, excellence, valor, honor, integrity, and most of all peace. We are lost!

WE ARE NOT LOST AS IT IS WRITTEN BUT AT TIMES ARE LOSING SO MUCH WE SIMPLY TURN OUR BACKS ON IT TO CARE BECAUSE THAT IS HOW HEAVY THIS BURDEN TRULY IS. BE TRUE TO YOU BUT MOST OF ALL BE TRUE TO GOD! DON'T LIE TO YOURSELF AS THAT IS LYING TO GOD!
